MINUTES OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD AT THE SILVER THREADS HALL, PURTON ON WEDNESDAY 8TH APRIL 2015 AT 7.30.P.M.

The Minutes of the 2014 AGM were read and agreed.
A letter of thanks has been received from Purton Parish Council for the payment for the fire extinguisher.
Brian thanked everyone for contributing support and help for the Society. However, while more help had been given setting up and dismantling the exhibition, more would be appreciated for stewardship.
He would also like all members to consider becoming committee members and take a more active part in the society.
It has been said in the past that it would be good to hold more events during the year, and any suggestions would be welcome..
Chris handed out the accounts of the exhibition
She reported that while art sales had risen, less craft stands led to lower craft sales. However, the increased subs. and hanging fees had helped to place the Society in a better financial situation than for several years., although caution is still needed as the exhibition costs £700 to put on each year.
She thanked Joe for setting up the website, and the members who help on the payment desk.
EXHIBITION SECRETARY’S REPORT
Joe thanked everyone for their help, particularly those who helped set the exhibition
up, and mentioned that the variety of work, sculpture and the Bradon Forest Students’ work. added interest to the exhibition.
350 visitors had attended the exhibition, and the website has a good number of ‘hits’.
Some applications for membership have been received via the website.
He added that more help to steward the exhibition is needed.
Tracey reported that the outcome from the Brave New World’ competition.
She suggested having a time together so that all the wording on the blackboards can be painted in large and consistent lettering-stencils and spray paint might be used..
MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY’S REPORT
Since opening membership, more variety is included in the exhibition. There are now 38 members Membership numbers remain stable, although some have left, and others joined.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Avril is standing down from being Membership Secretary. As no-one present volunteered to take her place, Brian will send out e-mail requests for members to take this on.
Brian asked if any members would like to stand for chairperson/committee.
No-one volunteered. It was suggested the officers stand as before.
Barbara Woolford is standing down-she has been President of the Society for many years, and all agreed that she will be sadly missed.
Brian thanked Avril for arranging the storing of the boards, etc., and for her work as Membership Secretary.
Christine Gill suggested simplifying the card sales-by having a simple price structure, and Joe suggested card details could be listed in the same way as prints.
He also reminded members to use the website, and to send any pictures of work and narrative to him for inclusion.
He also thanked Gordon Dickinson for setting up the Facebook page.
Avril thanked all artists for their photos. used on the cover of Purton Magazine for this year.
Brian said an opportunity to increase visitors to the exhibition would be to publicise it on the new housing estates-Avril and Chris. Gill suggested putting flyers into Purton Magazines already displayed in the show houses.
The ‘procedure’ for exhibiting in Purton Surgery is on-going. The paintings at present stored there will have to be collected.
Chris Gill suggested having a quiz-to attract better attendance-at the AGM.
Barbara G. is to contact Heric Art Group to see whether they would like –probably photos- of their work displayed in a book at our next exhibition.
